Service comparison
Skip hire or grab hire?
Both services remove waste, but they suit different sites. A skip stays while you load it; a grab lorry usually arrives, loads accessible loose material with its hydraulic arm and leaves. Access, waste type and how quickly the material is ready are the deciding factors.
Choose skip hire when…
- You want to load the waste gradually over several days
- The project produces mixed non-hazardous waste
- There is a suitable place for the container
- You need a contained option for an ongoing clearance or refit
Consider grab hire when…
- Soil, rubble or hardcore is already in an accessible pile
- A grab vehicle can safely position close enough to reach it
- You do not want a container left on site
- The material can be loaded and removed in one planned visit
Access matters more than it first appears
A grab lorry needs safe road access, stable positioning and clear reach to the material. Walls, fences, trees, overhead cables and parked vehicles may prevent loading. A skip delivery also needs safe vehicle access and enough room to place and later collect the container.
Send a clear photo if access is uncertain. It is better to identify a restriction before a vehicle is dispatched.
Compare the complete job—not only the headline price
The most profitable choice for the customer is the service that removes the required material safely with the fewest avoidable movements. Consider labour to load a skip, permit requirements, the volume and density of material, site time and whether an exchange will be needed.
Omeous can compare the requirement across skip hire, grab hire and man-and-van clearance and confirm the appropriate available option before booking.
